No More Heroes 2Posted by KillerKink in Untagged |
Suda Goichi takes the throne once again to narrate (in curiously deep voiceover) a new trailer for No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. While the last trailer was mostly narrative-focused, this trailer (posted after the break) goes into detail about new features in the game, including new controls for the Beam Katana(s), the ability to kick and punch with the B button, and the new 8-bit-style job missions! Be warned (explicitly, if not by knowledge of previous No More Heroes promotion): there is some toilet humor.
Additionally, we've posted two gameplay clips below the new trailer, as featured on IGN. While the footage in the trailer is from the Japanese version and therefore blood-free, the gameplay footage is very bloody and includes some tasteless (even for NMH) violence. The clips also include proof that if you thought the sword's battery charging couldn't get any more phallic, you were mistaken.

A Boy and His Boy-Shaped BlobPosted by KillerKink in Untagged |
WayForward has done something fairly magical with its gorgeous remake of A Boy and His Blob -- it's made the game look appealing even to someone who has played the NES game recently enough to remember the abject frustration, untinged by nostalgia. In fact, we think this game is lovely enough to attract players who don't even know there was another game.
This 'launch' trailer (though the game isn't out until October) includes some animated story sequences, the use of which shouldn't be much of a surprise in a hand-drawn game. It also includes a quick look at some delightful jellybean-granted Blob abilities, like a mech and some kind of "boy" shape.

Pixar + Diablo = TorchlightPosted by KillerKink in Untagged |
We never thought a completely new game would be rising from the ashes of Mythos in just over a year, but that's exactly what Runic Games has done. It went from having the rug pulled entirely out from underneath a game that was so close to shipping you could taste it (just ask our own Griffin McElroy who was in the beta), to putting out Torchlight, the new title the company pimped at PAX.
I played through Torchlight for half an hour at the show, and it's a delightful action-RPG PC game that looks like a cartoon version of Diablo ... which doesn't mean it's for toddlers. There's still killing of the smashing, bashing and magical varieties throughout this thing. Read on for more about the surprisingly impressive adventure game that'll set you back $19.99 when it launches on October 27.

Assassin's Creed 2 gameplay footagePosted by KillerKink in Untagged |
This trailer is kind of radical. Much like a serial killer gyrating on a neon-lit dance floor, Ubisoft's latest Assassin's Creed 2 gameplay footage places inconspicuous murder at the center of an infectious beat. We didn't think it was possible, but the anachronistic music video actually makes new protagonist Ezio seem ... almost hip.

Video on BioShock 2's multiplayerPosted by KillerKink in Untagged |
The first look at BioShock 2's multiplayer component in action surfaced this evening on GameTrailers TV. Our rough calculations reveal that the trailer -- which clocks in at just over two minutes in length -- is running at about .5 plasmid attacks per second (PAPS).
It might just be the edit, but the gameplay looks extremely frantic, with several human-controlled players employing the likes of Incinerate, Winter Blast, Telekinesis and a host of other plasmid powers in rapid succession. There are also glimpses at turret-building, what appears to be the first game's Research Camera being used for something and, of course, someone playing as the prototype Big Daddy.

Dead Space Extraction TrailerPosted by KillerKink in Untagged |
The latest Dead Space Extraction trailer comes horrifyingly close to uttering the line, "You should buy this game because it's totally, like, full of scary von scariness." However, it's good at showing some more of the gameplay we can expect from the on-rails shooter when it injects into retail on September 29th. Some highlights include a look at a big tentacle boss, some of the "mini game" elements -- like building a barricade -- and a nice clear look at how stasis and strategic dismemberment will look. Oh, strategic dismemberment, it's been too long

Modern Warfare 2 FootagePosted by KillerKink in Untagged |
And at nearly two minutes, the above footage captures a blessedly long life indeed. Though Modern Warfare 2's parlance gives the "flag runner" an air of nobility and excitement, a more accurate label would stem from the following observation: what you're carrying is not a flag so much as a "shoot me everyone" banner.
Come November 10th, we might opt to play a different role during this mad multiplayer dash through (what appears to be) the set of Michael Bay's latest piece of explodima vérité. Then again, if you have someone classy protecting you, it might be worth the thrill. Provided you don't shoot them in the back (0:44). Oops!
